Chapter Twenty-Four
Success

Several Months Later

**--**--**

This is a Transcript of Good Morning New York, aired on October 21st, 2142.

Alice (Ancorwoman for Good Morning New York): Welcome to Good Morning New York, the show bringing you all the latest news first.

Jack (Anchorman for Good Morning New York): That's right, Alice, and our top story today brings celebration for many who have worked so hard to see it happen.

Alice: Yes, today the DF closes its doors! After several tapes of footage from inside the Headquarters were released, many people took a stand all over the world and encouraged others to boycott the orginization, and they did with a vigor.

Jack: Attendance dropped over 90% in a month after people began to see the grotesque beatings. You may remember these scenes, taped by a hidden camera on the hat of Starre Copper, thirteen years old and kin, who disguised herself as a DF worker and gave us a tour of the vicinity.

Alice: That's right, Starre was visiting Saxvistan for her birthday when she first found out about the brutal treatment of the kin, but I think we ought to let her tell the rest of the story.

Jack: Starre is here with us via sattelite from her home. Hello, Starre and family!

Starre (guest): Hello!

Alice: Starre, this must be an exciting day for you and your family.

Starre: Yes, it's wonderful to finally have our hard work pay off. We're having a big party; we're really thrilled.

Jack: I can imagine that you would be. Would you tell us about some of the lengths you had to go to to manage this?

Starre: Sure. I actually went into the headquarters for the first time when I was arrested protesting with some others, but we got out when we stole some uniforms. Then, we came up with a plan to videotape with a hidden camera, so I went back and walked around with some actual workers for upwards of three hours with the camera rolling.

Alice: Wow, that's a long time to be in such a dangeorus environment. Weren't you afraid that you'd get caught?

Starre: Of course, but Rai was here to protect me.

((Raistlin, the pet 'bishel dragon' belonging to Starre, nods her head and flexes her wings. Starre laughs and pets the dragon's neck.))

John (guest): I was afraid she'd get caught!

Jack: Yes, we ought to introduce the rest of you. If you'd say your names, and how you're related to Starre...?

Nina (guest): Certainly. My name is Nina Matthews, and I'm Starre's adoptive mother, since we assumed John here to be dead. And these guys are Gana, Kivo, and Ionkori, dragons that chose to escape the DF and stay with us.

John: As she said, I'm John, Starre's father.

Stevan (guest): I'm Stevan, Nina's son, and football practice is in an hour, so make this quick.

((Starre wrestles briefly with Stevan, and they both laugh.))

Starre: And this is Rai, my bishel dragon.

Alice: Wonderful. Well, we're running out of time, and I must say that I am incredibly proud of all of you for all the work you've put in to freeing the kin from their torture.

Jack: Starre, if you would give us a quick description of what happened after you returned from Saxvistan to America?

Starre: Well, we made a whole bunch of copies of the tape, and I wrote a letter explaining it, and we sent it to lots of local news shows. A lot of them, including yours, decided to show the footage on their programs, and, soon, some of the shows in other states wanted copies for their programs, since this revelation was hot news. I sent more copies, and, soon, the news reached other countries, including Eurasia. I convinced a few programs there to show the tape, and that swayed a lot of people's views. Since then, people have started losing interest in the DF, as you said before, and...well, here we are!

Alice: Well, congratulations again, Starre and co. It's wonderful, the difference one person can make.

Starre: Thanks so much for helping out by showing the tape.

Jack: Our pleasure! More headline news, after this.
